Reservations, Deposits & Payments
A clear path from our free waitlist to bringing your Smart Yorkies gem home.
Joining our waitlist is free and does not reserve a puppy or require a purchase.
How reservations work
1 • Free Waitlist
Receive litter and nursery updates. No deposit is required.
2 • $800 General Hold (Current or Future Litter)
Once puppies are over 3 weeks old and available for consideration, an $800 non-refundable hold may secure your place for the requested sex, if available. It may remain on file for a future litter.
3 • Specific Puppy
After an $800 general hold, an additional $200 non-refundable selection deposit secures a specific puppy. If you skip the $800 stage and choose a specific available puppy directly, the required reservation deposit is $1,000.
Once a specific puppy is confirmed as reserved, that puppy is no longer available to another buyer and the selection cannot be changed simply because the buyer changes preference.
Payment timeline
Puppies are planned to go home at approximately 12 weeks of age, subject to each puppy’s health, developmental readiness, and veterinary guidance. The puppy's purchase balance must be paid in full before the puppy reaches 10 weeks of age, unless a different written financing agreement approved by Smart Yorkies LLC applies. The additional nursery time supports age-appropriate socialization, gentle handling, early learning, and monitoring of each puppy’s growth. Socialization continues after go-home.
Why Our Puppies Are Priced the Way They Are
A Smart Yorkies puppy is not priced simply by how tiny or adorable they are. Our pricing reflects the Yorkshire Terrier breed, the individual puppy’s characteristics, and the extraordinary amount of hands-on care that goes into raising each little gem.
🐾 The Yorkshire Terrier Breed
Thoughtful breeding includes planning, responsible care of our parent dogs, quality nutrition, appropriate veterinary care, and careful attention throughout pregnancy, birth, and early puppy development.
💎 Every Gem Is Different
Individual pricing may reflect sex, coat color and pattern, markings, eye characteristics, individual size and development characteristics, and placement terms. Coat, eyes, and estimated adult size can change as a puppy matures, and adult size is never guaranteed.
💕 A Labor of Love
Our puppies are raised in our home. That means around-the-clock monitoring when needed, feedings, weighing puppies, washing bedding, cleaning and sanitizing the nursery, socialization, cuddles, and plenty of what we lovingly call “poop patrol.”
Responsible breeding also means being prepared for veterinary care, health-related needs, quality food, nursery equipment, registration, supplies, and unexpected expenses. Pregnancy, delivery, and newborn care carry real responsibilities and risks, and the welfare of our moms and puppies comes first.
Raised as family: Our dogs live in our home as family. Our puppies begin life surrounded by everyday household sounds, handling, affection, and routines. We invest time, resources, and a great deal of love into every puppy long before that puppy meets their forever family.
Smart Yorkies LLC establishes each puppy’s price individually, and published puppy prices are non-negotiable. The listed puppy price does not include applicable Texas sales and use tax unless expressly stated otherwise.
Texas Sales Tax
Sales tax is not included in an advertised puppy price unless Smart Yorkies LLC expressly states otherwise. The applicable rate is determined for the individual transaction under Texas sales-tax sourcing requirements and will be shown separately on the buyer’s invoice or purchase documentation.
Registration
Smart Yorkies LLC puppies will be registered with APRI (America's Pet Registry, Inc.), subject to the individual puppy's paperwork and purchase agreement.
Payments & identification
Smart Yorkies LLC does not accept checks of any kind or Visa/Mastercard gift cards. Available electronic, card or approved financing methods will be communicated directly to the buyer. Smart Yorkies LLC may require valid identification matching the buyer and payment/financing records.
Go-home veterinary commitment
At go-home, buyers must either provide confirmation that the puppy's first wellness visit with a veterinarian of their choice is scheduled or sign a Veterinary Wellness Visit Acknowledgment confirming their responsibility to arrange the visit within the timeframe stated in the puppy agreement.
Airport / flight pickup
When airport or flight arrangements are requested or required, additional airline, carrier, health-certificate, travel or handling costs may apply. These costs are the buyer's responsibility and will be disclosed before travel is arranged.
Reserved Puppy Loss & Replacement Policy
If a reserved puppy dies before delivery, the $1,000 reservation deposit is non-refundable but is credited toward a future comparable puppy. Additional payments are also credited. Affected families receive first-priority selection. If a reasonably comparable puppy cannot be offered within two years of written notification, the buyer may request a refund of payments above the deposit, subject to applicable law. See the updated Reservation Agreement for full terms.
Missed Payment Deadline & Reservation Cancellation
The remaining purchase balance is due before the puppy reaches 10 weeks of age unless a different deadline is agreed in writing. If payment is not received by the written deadline, Smart Yorkies LLC may cancel the reservation and make the puppy available to another family. The $800 general hold, $200 additional specific-puppy reservation payment, and any other payments made may be forfeited only to the extent permitted by applicable law and the signed agreement. Any legally required refund will be honored. Please contact us before the deadline if you anticipate a problem.
Why Our Holding Fees Are Non-Refundable
When Smart Yorkies LLC accepts a paid reservation, we undertake administrative processing, buyer communications, reservation recordkeeping, planning, and ongoing holding arrangements. A specific-puppy reservation also removes that puppy from consideration by other families, creating a potential lost placement opportunity. These are the reasons for our disclosed holding-fee policy, not a guarantee that every payment is legally forfeitable.
Buyer default: The balance and the exact deadline are stated in each signed agreement and invoice. Unless changed in a writing signed by both parties, payment must be received before the puppy turns 10 weeks old. Failure to pay by that deadline, without an agreed extension, constitutes buyer default. The breeder may cancel the reservation and offer the puppy to another family. The $800 general hold, additional $200 specific-puppy fee, and any further payments may be retained only to the extent permitted by Texas law and the signed agreement; legally required refunds will be made. Buyer cancellation or change of mind does not automatically entitle the buyer to a refund or transfer.
Breeder-side puppy illness or loss: If a specifically reserved puppy dies before delivery or a veterinarian determines that puppy cannot safely be placed due to a serious illness, the buyer may request that payments be credited to a reasonably comparable future puppy under the signed agreement. This exception is not available merely because a buyer changes their mind. Any rights or refunds required by law are preserved.
Payment documentation: Buyer and breeder should sign before payment. Invoices and receipts identify the puppy or general hold, transaction amount, due date, and applicable terms. A non-refundable label does not override card-network rules or consumer rights.
